Manage your centre's settings and associated details such as adding a new centre, recording your organisation ID to integrate with MyMedicare, updating centre profile, updating demographics details, billing information, work areas and other relevant details.

Helix is initially supplied with the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) already loaded. Import updated versions as they become available.

Import the MBS or DVA fee update file to Helix to update the MBS and DVA fees charged by your health service.

Customise and manage Helix for your health service.
- User Management
  Everyone who needs to access Helix should be added as a user and assigned to a role. Permissions to access various parts of Helix are assigned to roles. The permissions assigned determine what each user can access in Helix.
- Centre Settings
  Manage your centre's settings and associated details such as adding a new centre, recording your organisation ID to integrate with MyMedicare, updating centre profile, updating demographics details, billing information, work areas and other relevant details.
  - Display Centre Settings Centre Management
    Display the centre management from settings menu. Record the MyMedicare organisation ID provided by MyMedicare online in Helix .
  - Add a New Centre
    Add a new centre and related information, such as demographicscentre profile, billing, organisation site ID, clinical, messaging settings and other centre settings.
  - Edit a Centre
    Update the required centres and their associated information such as demographicscentre profile, pathology settings, work area, imaging settings and other details.
  - Finance Configuration
    Configure the centre billing details and default fee schedule for patient services.
    - Configure Centre Billing
      Add your centre's account details, default billing type, default billing items for different scenarios and your Modified Monash Category for Medicarebilling incentive items.
    - Fee Schedules
      Maintain the default fee schedule for patient services that are not bulk billed or DVA-related, import updated MBS and DVA fee schedules into your instance of Helix, and create customised fee schedules.
      - Display Fee Schedules
        The fee schedules available at your health service are listed in the Fee Schedules window.
      - Customise Fee Schedules (Override Schedules)
        Create custom fee schedules (or Override Schedules), if you want to charge different fees per-state, per-practice, or even per-user.
      - Add Fees Manually
        Add new fees manually and create multiple fee rates for all the schedules.
      - Edit Fees
        Update the fee rates for existing fee schedules in Fee Schedules panel.
      - Add Private Billing Fees
        Add private billing fees to Medicare item numbers and set an effective date.
      - Medicare Benefits Schedule Import
        Helix is initially supplied with the Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) already loaded. Import updated versions as they become available.
        Download MBS or DVA File
        Download the MBS or DVA fee updates released periodically by Medicare Online.
        Import MBS or DVA Fee File
        Import the MBS or DVA fee update file to Helix to update the MBS and DVA fees charged by your health service.
- Immunisation Schedule Management
  Create a new immunisation schedule, edit the schedule and activate it.
- Template Management
  All templates used in the Letter Writer are managed from the Template Management system.
- Preferences
  Enable ePrescribing, RTPM and set your display preferences.
- Abbreviations
  Abbreviations are essentially frequently used text inserted into a patient's consult using keystrokes.
- Certificates
  PKI certificates are required by many businesses for maintaining access to digital health tools including electronic prescribing and My Health Record.
- Audits
  Use the Audit log to check user access, reauthentication, and any changes made to your patient's personal records.
- Migration to Helix
  Helix uses a FHIR-based tool to migrate your MedicalDirector Clinical data using an iterative approach.

Import MBS or DVA Fee File

Import the MBS or DVA fee update file to Helix to update the MBS and DVA fees charged by your health service.

About this task

Import or upload a MBS or DVA file in Fee Schedules > Upload section.

Procedure

To import a MBS or DVA file:

Download a MBS or DVA fee updates file from MedicalDirector Helix Updates. For more information, see Download MBS or DVA File.
Select user > Settings.
Select Billing > Fee Schedules.
From the Default Schedules section, select the required fee schedule tab.

The selected schedule section is displayed at the right side of the Fee Schedules panel.
In the selected fee schedule section, select Upload tab.
In the Choose a file field, click Browse and locate the MBS file you have previously downloaded from the MedicalDirector Helix Updates.
In the Effective Date calendar, select the date at which the new fees will be effective. The default date is the current date.
To import the file, click Import.

Results

The new fees are imported and the MBS and DVA fee schedules are updated.

What to do next

Your practice might have other fees that require updating, or the fee lists doesn't update the fees you require. You can manually update any remaining fees for your practice. For more information, see Fee Schedules.
