Prompt MyMedicare Registration

Send SMS messages to patients about their MyMedicare registration.

Before you begin

To receive SMS messages from the practice staff or HCPs, in the Patient Details > Patient preferences IconPatient Preferences > SMS Preferences field, you must record the patient's consent. For more information, see Record a Patient's Consent to Receive SMS.
Tip:
SMS charges apply for each SMS.

About this task

Practice staff and HCPs can send SMS messages to a patient about their MyMedicare registration suggesting the next action required depending on their current status.

Procedure

To send an SMS to a patient:
  1. From the Patient search iconPatient Search or Patient Queue iconPatient Queue, select a patient.
  2. In the floating navigation bar, click Visit nav tabVisit.
  3. In the Visit nav tabVisit panel's header, click Edit IconEdit.
  4. In the Patient Details > MyMedicare Registration section, click Send SMS iconSMS MyMedicare link to patient.

    Note:
    If a patient has not consented to receive SMS messages, the Send SMS iconSMS MyMedicare link to patient field is unavailable.
  5. In the Send SMS iconSend SMS to Patient panel, from the Phone number list, select the recorded phone number or enter a valid new phone number to which you want to send SMS.

  6. In the Message Template field, a template is selected based on the patient's MyMedicare registration status. Its associated message is displayed in the Message field:
    • To change the template, from the Template list, select an appropriate template based on the patient's MyMedicare registration status.
    • If required, to customise the default message or URL, in the Message field, select a value and update it.
    • To create a new message, from the Template list, select Blank and in the Message field, enter your message.
    • To insert fields for which relevant data is substituted when the SMS is sent, click + Add Field.
    Tip:
    • The patient cannot reply to this SMS message.
    • To change the sender name, select User iconuser > Settings iconSettings > Centre > Patient Messaging. For more information, see SMS Sender Name.
  7. Click Send.

Results

The SMS message is sent to the patient.

What to do next

View SMS messages sent from the Patient Details in the Comms Log. These messages have a Message Type of MyMedicare SMS.
