Cease Medications

Clinicians can stop a patient's medications from their Health Summary.

Before you begin

Open a patient record to display a patient's Health Summary iconHealth Summary.

About this task

Health Summary iconHealth Summary > Medications iconMedications lists medications prescribed in Helix, and any other medications added that the patient has informed you of (prescribed elsewhere).

You can stop a patient's current medication from the Medications iconMedications list.

Procedure

To stop a medication from a patient's Health Summary:
  1. In the Health Summary iconHealth Summary > Medications iconMedications > Current list, for the required medication, in the Actions column, click icon_more actionsMore Actions and select Cease.
    Health Summary > Medications > Cease
    Alternatively, select the medication to open the Medication iconMedication panel and click Cease at the bottom of the panel.
    Health Summary, open Medications then click Cease
  2. In the Reason Current Medication panel, select the reason for ceasing the medication from the list of options provided.

Results

The medication is stopped and is moved to the Ceased list.

What to do next

To view information about why a medication was stopped, in the Medications iconMedications > Ceased list, hover your mouse over an Information iconInfo icon for a ceased medication. The reason that the medication was ceased, by whom and when are displayed. For example, it may be that the medication course has been completed without problems. Alternatively, it could indicate that the patient had a reaction to the medication.
