Helix can be configured for electronic transfer of prescriptions (ETP) to a central repository.

- Health Summary
  Information entered by a practitioner during a consult is added to a patient's Health Summary.
- Consultations
  Record details of a clinical consultation in the Consult panel of the patient's record.
- Patient Timeline
  A summary of the patient's clinical history is displayed in the Patient Timeline.
- Medications
  Helix uses the MDref medications database provided by AusDI.
  - Medications in the Health Summary
    View a summary of current and past medications for the patient in their Health Summary.
  - Add Medication History
    Add current medications to a patient's Health Summary that your patient is taking but which were prescribed elsewhere, such as in hospital or at another service.
  - Medication Precautions
    Helix provides prescribing decision support including condition and drug allergy or adverse reaction alerts.
  - Prescribe
    Use Helix to prescribe medications.
  - Electronic Transfer of Prescriptions
    Helix can be configured for electronic transfer of prescriptions (ETP) to a central repository.
    - Electronic Prescribing
      Helix supports electronic prescribing for registered providers who have opted in to ePrescribing.
  - Medication Recipes
    Define drug recipes to use when prescribing or to record medication history.
- Immunisations
  Before you administer an immunisation to a patient, check the immunisations that have already been administered on the AIR and the immunisations due.

  A patient's drug allergies can be added to their record.

  Use the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) feature to specify care plans, cycle of care for asthma or diabetes, and GP Mental Health Treatment Plans.

  Record details of a patient's clinical history in the History section. Record details of today's examination of a patient in the Examination section.
- Measurements and Assessments
  Record metabolic, pathology and ECG measurements and other assessments in the patient's record as required.
- Recalls
  A Recall is a type of flag recorded against a patient's record that informs practitioners and practice staff of when the patient is due to return to the practice.
- Nursing Requests
  During a consult, add a request for a nurse to complete a nursing action.
- Obstetrics
  Record obstetrics information on the Obstetrics panel.
- Investigations
  Investigations can be requested by a practitioner from within a patient's clinical record.
- Tasks
  The tasks module allows users to send messages (tasks) to other users throughout the medical centre.
- My Health Record
  Securely upload a patient's health data to their My Health Record.

Electronic Transfer of Prescriptions

Helix can be configured for electronic transfer of prescriptions (ETP) to a central repository.

Helix supports ETP for both printed PBS prescriptions and electronic prescribing.

If ETP is configured, whenever a prescription is created, the information is sent off to a central repository.

To enable ETP with Helix, complete the following steps:

Register at least one clinician in your organisation as a Prescriber at the eRx (www.erx.com.au) website. eRx is the ETP service that Helix integrates with to enable ETP. With the registration, although individual prescriber details are entered, it allows ETP to be used by anyone in the same organisation.
Contact MedicalDirector Support to confirm that registration has been initiated and arrange for ETP to be enabled.
For your centre:
- Ensure your centre has an ePrescribing Entity ID.
- Check that a locality is set for your centre. For Helix to be able to transfer prescriptions to the ETP service, your centre must include a suburb, state and postcode in user > Settings > Centre > Centre Settings > Demographics tab.

After you have set up ETP, for healthcare professionals:

Whenever a PBS prescription is created, the information is sent off to the ETP service, such as eRx.
When a PBS prescription is deleted, Helix sends an update to the ETP service to cancel that medication. Similarly, if a medication from a previous service that has been sent to the central repository is stopped , but not represcribed, a cancellation is sent.
