Helix interacts with Services Australia web services.
PRODASecurity and Authentication
To use the Services Australia web services, your organisation must be registered with Services Australia using the Provider Digital Access (PRODA) system. PRODA is used to verify and manage providers' details and access a range of government online services.

  Helix interacts with Services Australia web services.
  - PRODASecurity and Authentication
    To use the Services Australia web services, your organisation must be registered with Services Australia using the Provider Digital Access (PRODA) system. PRODA is used to verify and manage providers' details and access a range of government online services.
    - Register B2B Device
      Register your B2B device in PRODA to obtain a device activation code from Services Australia.
    - Activate B2B Device
      Activate your B2B device to access a range of health provider services such as Medicare Online, Australian Immunisation Register (AIR) and other services.
  - Access to Medicare Web Services for Doctors
    Providers can submit Medicare claims to Services Australia directly or the claims can be submitted on their behalf.
  - Access to Medicare Web Services For Nurses
    Ancilliary providers can submit Medicare claims to Services Australia directly.
  - Online Patient Verification
    Online Patient Verification (OPV) is the process where a single patient's Medicare card number is sent to Services Australia and is validated against the details that Medicare holds.
  - IHI
    All patients have been allocated an Individual Healthcare Identifier (IHI) by Services Australia. The IHI is used for integration with My Health Record and ePrescribing. The IHI may also be used by the AIR to identify patients if there is insufficient other information.
- Investigations and documents
  Helix receives pathology and imaging results, letters and other documents electronically and sends documents and letters electronically using HL7 messages.
- Tyro Integration
  Helix integrates with Tyro and its EFTPOS terminals.
- HealthLink SmartForms
  Helix integrates with HealthLink SmartForms to enable practices to send electronic referrals and other types of forms securely.
- Helix FHIR API
  Use the Helix FHIR API to send requests in FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources) formats to create, update, and delete (in some circumstances) various resources such as patient, practitioner, appointment and other clinical data.

Register B2B Device

Register your B2B device in PRODA to obtain a device activation code from Services Australia.

Before you begin

You must have valid login credentials to access the PRODA portal and register your organisation in that portal. For more information, see Register an Organisation in PRODA portal or PRODA - HPE.

About this task

Register a B2B device in the PRODA portal and you will get a device activation code from Services Australia. For more information about registering in PRODA, see Register B2B Devices or PRODA - HPE.

Procedure

To register a B2B device with PRODA:

Log in to PRODA and select Organisations at the top right of the window.
From the My organisations section, select the name of the organisation you want to register the new B2B device to.
Ensure that the selected organisation has a valid status and that the ABN is correct.
In the Manage my organisation > B2B Devices tab, click Register New B2B Device.
In the Device Name field, enter a device name.
The device name should be descriptive enough that you or another user can identify what the device is used for and what service transactions it’s performing. The device name must be unique to your organisation. The name may contain any of the following characters:
- Alphabetic
- Numeric
- Underscores
- Hyphens
- Full stops
Tip:
The device name may not contain any spaces.
In the Description field, add any other information to help you identify the device.
Click Register Device.

Results

After your B2B device is successfully registered in PRODA, the device activation code is displayed in the portal. The code is valid for 24 hours.

Important:

Record the code in a safe location, as it is not stored.
