Use Helix to record your patients' medical details and consultations.
- Health Summary
  Information entered by a practitioner during a consult is added to a patient's Health Summary.
- Consultations
  Record details of a clinical consultation in the Consult panel of the patient's record.
  - Consult Timer
    Consultations are timed automatically in Helix. You can start a consult timer automatically or manually.
  - Start a New Consult
    You can start a new consult for a patient from an existing consult.
  - Consult Notes
    After you have started a consult for a patient, you can add consult notes.
  - Consult Actions
    Actions taken during the consultation are listed in the consult actions section.
  - Visit Items
    Visit Items lists service items that are to be billed to the patient.
  - Keyboard Short Cuts for Consults
    Use keyboard shortcuts to switch to different sections of a consult.
  - Consult Modules
    The Consult panel consists of multiple clinical modules.

- Patient Timeline
  A summary of the patient's clinical history is displayed in the Patient Timeline.
- Medications
  Helix uses the MDref medications database provided by AusDI.
- Immunisations
  Before you administer an immunisation to a patient, check the immunisations that have already been administered on the AIR and the immunisations due.
- Allergies
  A patient's allergies can be added to their record.
- Chronic Disease Management
  Use the Chronic Disease Management (CDM) feature to specify care plans, cycle of care for asthma or diabetes, and GP Mental Health Treatment Plans.
- History & Examinations
  Record details of a patient's clinical history in the History section. Record details of today's examination of a patient in the Examination section.
- Measurements and Assessments
  Record metabolic, pathology and ECG measurements and other assessments in the patient's record as required.
- Recalls
  A Recall is a type of flag recorded against a patient's record that informs practitioners and practice staff of when the patient is due to return to the practice.
- Nursing Requests
  During a consult, add a request for a nurse to complete a nursing action.
- Obstetrics
  Record obstetrics information on the Obstetrics panel.
- Investigations
  Investigations can be requested by a practitioner from within a patient's clinical record.
- Tasks
  The tasks module allows users to send messages (tasks) to other users throughout the medical centre.
- My Health Record
  Securely upload a patient's health data and specific events, including acute care episodes, urgent treatments, or interventions outside the usual care provider to their My Health Record.Securely upload a patient's health data to their My Health Record.

Helix connects to HealthShare so that you can browse a library of patient information resources, and print these for your patients.

Before you begin

HealthShare category information is refreshed every 7 days.

Procedure

From the Patient Search or Patient Queue, select a patient and click Consult.
In the Consult panel, click Education.

Tip:
If you can't see Education, click More.
In the Patient Education panel, in the Search field, enter at least the first two characters of the category of information you need. A list of matching category names is displayed.
Select the required category. A list of available documents is displayed.
Select the required fact sheet.

Results

A PDF of the fact sheet is displayed. Navigate the document using the controls. For more information about controlling a document, see Document Controls.

What to do next

To print the fact sheet for the patient, click Print. The printed fact sheet is displayed in the ActionsConsult actions > Other actions section of the Consult panel.
