Outgoing Referrals
A healthcare professional writes an outgoing referral to request that a specialist healthcare professional or healthcare organisation provide an expert opinion, diagnosis, or treatment plan for the patient's medical condition.
The referral can be addressed to any HCP or healthcare organisation in the Helix Address Book or recorded in the HealthLink directory.
You can send specialist referrals to a healthcare professional or healthcare organisation via:
- Secure Message Delivery - only to recipients whose details are recorded in the HealthLink directory. For more information, see Refer a Patient to a Specialist.
- Email - only to recipients whose details are recorded in the address book. For more information, see Refer a Patient to a Specialist.
SmartForms
link - create and send SmartForm to the specialist from the
HealthLink SmartForms portal. For more
information, see Send HealthLink SmartForms.
After you have sent the referral, it is available:
- In the Actions section from the Consult panel.
- In the - after you have completed the patient consultation.
- In the SMD OutboxOutbox section - if you have sent the referral letter via HealthLink SmartForms, email or secure message delivery.
